A tragic gas cylinder explosion in Karachi's New Challi area on Tuesday resulted in the loss of one life and injuries to six others.
The explosion originated from a shop in the generator market, causing a blaze that scattered goods onto the street.
Rescue teams swiftly responded, confirming one fatality and six injuries. Unfortunately, incidents involving gas cylinders, whether in commercial settings or households, are not uncommon due to factors like substandard cylinders and lapses in safety protocols during refills.
This incident brings to mind a similar tragedy in December 2023, when three people died and 17 were injured following a gas cylinder blast that caused a two-storey building to collapse in Karachi's Machar Colony. The blast occurred during a gas transfer operation at a cylinder shop as a vehicle loaded with cylinders arrived for gas supply.
